About This Class

Farm to Fork is a truly unique opportunity to become completely immersed in the roots of the food on your plate. The day will be a special mix of time spent out on the farm with Peter, who founded Pipers Farm together with his wife, Henri, over thirty years ago, and time with Jazzi in the cook school learning a few Middle Eastern dishes. We start off our afternoon with an introduction into the background story of Pipers Farm, a detailed insight into regenerative agriculture, soil health, livestock and human gut health, and the true meaning of ‘provenance’ and ‘terroir’. We can honestly say that 10 minutes listening to Peter talk will change how you view farming and the meat industry for the better. The best way to learn about the above terms is to get into the thick of it by taking a tractor ride through the lanes and fields. You will venture up the same track that people 400 years ago were using to get to Exeter using a horse and cart! We will stop off and have a little picnic with home-made focaccia and dips whilst learning more about the livestock and life on the farm. Completed with a sheep dog demo from one of Peters gorgeous sheep dogs, Spot. Back at the stables you will get an insight into the seam butchery that Peter taught himself right at the start when he and Henri were making the connection between ‘the day-to-day farming and the eating sensation’, with the help of a frying pan! Around the fire pits in the old stable yard, there will be cooking and tasting of Pipers Farm mutton, in our opinion it is even more delicious than lamb with a much more complex flavour. And finally, we will tuck into our pre prepared Middle Eastern Feast, washed down with local drinks as the sunsets. This will be a day at a cookery school like no other! Price includes all food and drink for the day. A snack at about 3pm will be provided. We plan to sit to eat at around 6.30pm. UPCOMING CLASS DATES 2022 -Saturday 13th August -Sunday 18th September
