COVid update - 6th April 2021

Following the recent government announcements, we are thrilled to confirm that we will be reopening our doors on 21st May 2021 for all of our in-person cooking classes.

We have limited the class numbers to six people to allow for ease of movement and social distancing. Current safety measures will remain in place, should there be any changes to this we will update you all as and when necessary.

If you have any questions at all, please do get in touch. We cannot wait to welcome you all again to the school once again!

Best wishes,

The DCS team

SAFETY MEASURES FOR COOKERY CLASSES

Our school is adhering to strict social distancing rules, with reduced numbers, increased cleaning and sanitisation. We are doing everything necessary to be smart and safe and we are ensuring our students are doing the same. If you're not feeling 100%, you must stay home. If you feel something coming on, err on the side of caution. And if you've already booked and come down with something, there won't be any cancellation repercussions. Your health and safety is our number one priority.

For courses, you will have your own utensils and equipment wherever possible and you will be spaced out in our cookery school to allow distance between guests - there will be a maximum of 5 customers on any course in our cookery school.

These courses are hands on and there may be some instances where social distancing between student and chef tutor may not be possible. In this instance the Chef tutor will always wear a mask and hand washing/ sanitising will always be in place.

A FEW THINGS WE ASK OF YOU:

  • Students are requested to bring the following to class for their own personal use only:

    1. Mask

    2. Water bottle

    3. Pen

    4. Takeaway containers if you wish (although we do provide brand new and clean ones every time)

  • Aprons and tea towels are provided. Washed after every use on a high heat.

  • Temperatures will be taken and recorded upon arrival*

  • Please respect social distancing while we check everyone in.

  • Please use the hand disinfectant when entering the school.

  • Please provide up-to-date contact details during check-in to help us facilitate contact tracing if required.

  • Please wear a mask during our cooking time. You do not have to wear one during  lunch and coffee breaks

  • Everyone is expected to wash their hands when they enter the Kitchen and sanitise if necessary throughout the class.

  • If you need to cough or sneeze, please do so into a tissue and follow-up with immediate hand washing

  • Please stay at home if you are feeling symptomatic and let us know.

  • Very importantly, thank you for your understanding and cooperation!

* Attendees registering temperatures recorded at 38C or above will not be able to participate; attendees registering temperatures recorded at 37.5C - 37.9C will be allowed 20 minutes to cool down before being re-checked; should their temperature remain at or above 37.5C, the attendee will not be able to participate.

WHAT WE ARE DOING

  • Our team will wear a mask whenever interacting closely with students.

  • Class numbers will be reduced to help ensure physical distancing.

  • Stations will be spaced 1 meter apart.

  • You will also be 1 meter apart during lunch

  • A hand sanitisation station will be available upon entry into the premises.

  • The team will record and log student contact details to facilitate contact tracing if required.

  • Stations will be set-up to help minimise cross-over movement while cooking.

  • Hand disinfectant will be available at each Hands-On station.

  • We have installed information notices around all sink and toilet areas to advise customers of the HSE guidelines on good hand hygiene.

  • We have increased resources around cleaning. We are diligently and regularly cleaning all our surfaces within the school including door handles.

  • All team members have been briefed and retrained on the importance of correct hand hygiene and will abide by Devon Cookery School's comprehensive COVID-19 Response Plan.
