About This Class

If you’ve ever been to Spain, you’ll know just how important food is to the county’s rich and varied culture. Over the centuries, Spanish cuisine has developed into a wide range of delicious dishes based on fresh and colourful ingredients from all corners of the country. So, let us help bring a little taste of the med into your kitchen and join us for a day of Spanish cooking. Croquetas – Starting with the ultimate tapas bar classic – croquetas. Many countries do their own version of croquettes, but the Spanish have them down to a fine art. We will be filling ours with delicious Spanish ham and cheese blended with béchamel sauce, then coated in breadcrumbs and deep fried. Alioli- The name alioli comes from the Catalan words for the two main ingredients all (garlic), i (and), and oli (oil). It is quick, easy and very flavourful, so it is easy to understand why it is so popular in Spain. This is the perfect dip for your croquetas! Paella- The origins of paella are ancient, rooted in the area around Valencia, Spain near the Albufera Lagoon, where both fishing and rice growing dominated the region for centuries. We will be finishing ours off with Juicy Prawns, Mussels and Succulent Squid. (Please specify if you have any allergies or requirements upon booking) Crema Catalana- Crema catalana is a Spanish custard dessert very similar to crème brulee. This creamy dessert is made with milk, cream, egg yolks, sugar, vanilla, orange peel, and cinnamon. You will be making: -Ham and Cheese Croqueta -Alioli -Seafood Paella (This will be your lunch) -Crème Catalana ( This will be a late afternoon treat!) Techniques learnt -Knife Skills -Spanish Flavours -How to make a Bechamel -How to prepare seafood -How to perfectly cook paella -Making a Crème Catalana -Seasoning Everything that you prepare will be either eaten for lunch or will be taken home.
